WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Our family enjoyed all of the events. Great variety and lots of learning opportunities. Big fun!

2023 Winter Fun at Fox Run participant

Nature gives us hope, a home, a place to explore and a sense of being a part of something bigger than ourselves. The Fox Run Nature Center will provide opportunities for our youth to learn more about our varied ecosystems. They will get to explore the tree tops of the forest, and discover what stewardship means for our community. I can’t wait to see their excited faces as they engage and fall in love with nature!

He’s even more excited about outdoor adventures and talks about how to care for the environment (“mommy, did you know…?”)

Describing the influence of the camp

I have volunteered with the Friends of EPC Nature Centers for over 20 years. The increased population growth of EPC created the need for another site where families and visitors can learn about the flora and fauna of EPC. I know firsthand the positive impact nature center camps, programs and events have on the general public – especially families. It is time for northern EPC to shine and host a new county nature center.

Risë Foster-Bruder

President, Friends of EPC Nature Centers

Able to be outside in nature + in the woods, able to hike, play in the creek + play games, it’s educational and also fun.

Love the concert series at Fox Run! Would like more nighttime events at the park.

She learned new thing about nature everyday and it brought back the love of hiking.

I have loved going to this camp! I have been going for 4 years. This camp has taught me so much more about the plants and different animals in nature and what different roles they play in both keeping the eco system up and running and how they contribute to the food chain. It has even taught me about some of the different parts of an animal, and because of this, I have gained a huge liking for nature camps, nature in general, and nature walks. I have been so happy with myself during these camps because I get to have a hands-on experience and have had very fun, freeing days.

[The camp was] Educational, they were so excited to tell me about their day.

I am a Black Forest resident and a volunteer at the two current El Paso County Nature Centers, Bear Creek and Fountain Creek. The staff at both centers are top-notch, providing creative programs for all ages and abilities. Each center offers a different view into the ecosystems of the Pikes Peak region with educational, hands-on exhibits inside the building and a variety of trails to explore, all free to the public.

People go to see … our museums, and if they have more time (the nature centers are) free places to go. I see this one up in Fox Run as kind of a quiet spot in a busy place, so people can go there to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

He wishes nature camp lasted all day – he didn’t want to leave.

As someone who lives in N EPC, the thought of a neighborhood Nature Center is so exciting. How marvelous for the children in this region. Our favorite county park goes from being Good to Great!

Please offer more nature camps during the summer up north.

Compared to other camps and programs your child has participated in, what is special about Fountain Creek Nature Camps?

“I like that it was in Fox Run.”

Fox Run Nature Camp Parent

These centers and their programs are well-loved and through volunteer and community support, they are able to offer nature camps and a variety of fun, informative programs at very reasonable prices. A third nature center at Fox Run will provide a window into the unique Ponderosa Pine ecosystem of Black Forest and offer programming to serve the growing population to the north of town. The building design, featuring a tower above the canopy and an elevated walk through the trees is amazing. I’m very excited to see a new nature center coming to this side of town!

[The children] want to learn more every day. Especially about what benefits the animals and environment.
